Paul&Antonia wrote:Well done on your first Munro. Great pics and it looked like you both had a great time. Antonia and I are making plans to start bagging some Munros but we are still in training at the moment, cycling and walking the borders hills local to us. Your report gave us great encouragement. Ben Lomond is a definite for later this summer and we fancy doing your route in reverse. Is the ascent via Ptarmigan ridge as steep as they say?
Its definitely steeper than the tourist route but i'd also definitely say it will always be the way i go up when i do it again and probably back down too. It just makes it more exciting and the views of Loch Lomond from that route are outstanding, weather permitting of course, with only a couple of wee scrambles that are excellent fun but easy enough for a newbie like me Good luck with the training and also when you start 'bagging' i'll look out for your reports
