I had looked at the RRW and decided that the amount of tarmac made this more appealing as a bike-packing trip for me.

We (my friend and I) set off at 2pm on Thursday 17 April and headed to Aberfoyle for some food and a coffee before continuing on to Loch Lubnaig where we camped for the night. We had a coffee and a snack then settled down early - we woke through the night and checked for signs of the Aurora Borealis but sadly nothing.

We then set off for Killin the next morning, stopping at The Broch for breakfast. Upon arrival at Killin (partly due to the heavy rain) we went into The Falls of Dochart Hotel for a pint, then over lunch we decided to book accommodation in Aberfeldy and continue on there for the day (as I was not aware of any areas to camp around Acharn). We arrived into Aberfeldy at 6.58pm (as the Breadalbane Arms where we were staying closed at 7pm unbeknown to us 😳) we headed out for a few pints and some food before heading back to the hotel for a hot shower, and a warm, comfy bed.

The next morning we set off towards Pitlochry hoping to get a nice camp spot for the night (and after an amazing breakfast at Inti) we set off along the riverside path towards Grandtully where there was a white water canoe event taking place. We then took the hill path to Pitlochry before finding a great spot to camp just before Fonab forest - a surprisingly tasty meal of dehydrated spag bol and a cup of tea later it was an early night as the sun had gone down and it was getting chilly.

On our last day we gently rolled downhill into Pitlochry for breakfast in The Pancake Place before getting the train home.

Overall a fantastic route, I'm glad we cycled rather than walked on this one - and I would happily do it again 😀
