This was a Scottish Midweek Mountaineering Club meet. Drove down Glen Etive, the road was being retarred and access was restricted so the glen was happily quiet. Parked at one of the gravel pull outs and headed pretty much straight up the steep slopes to get away from the road, already this slope had bracken growth which is likely to get thicker as summer progresses. After the initial steep there is a more level section where the upper part of the hill becomes visible, there is a rock band at between 600 and 700m which looked like it would give some good scrambling, I passed it easily at its western edge where a faint path was followed up some steep grassy slopes to pt 848. From here a broad ridge leads to the summit past some interesting quartz outcrops. Views were stunning. Contemplated alternate routes down but the ground down to either side seemed steep and the glens leading back to Etive seemed pathless so reversed route to car.
