Drive down early and parked in the wee layby between the hostel and buttermere.
Rain and a wee bit of wind was forecast for the afternoon- and boy did it come.
At least I made it to High Crag with some nice views before it came in.

From my parking early on

Lovely Fleetwith Pike

Nice walk along the loch ( err I mean lake 😄) and cut up steeply as if heading for Haystacks this way.

Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike on my left as I head up

Heading for the gap and cut off right- and the rest of the world went left 😄

High Crag- 1st wainwright

Good stepped/ pitched path up through the scree and a nice zig zag up to the summit.

My way ahead and the zig zag visible

Summit area - mist , rain , wind coming in quickly, ni time fir hanging around

The rest of the journey from High Crag to Red Pike could be transported anywhere.

Cairn city on the route coming to - and from High stile

Wet , windy trudge , damage limitation.

Red pike summit area, nothing to see here , move along

Even as I descended red pike there were a few others heading up. - fair play, they're day their walk, been there done that , no great fun.
If it is misty there's a couple of paths coming down the red scree - get the right one!
The path down the side of the waterfall would be lovely on a clear good day.
Some of it today, though, and after yesterday's rain was flooded a bit and quite precarious - take your time , look round for the best options, or holds on the rocky parts.
One I got to the bottom and the wall , it was just walking through a swamp and flooded paths till you hit the main path back - which was also flooded 😄
Still, i enjoyed it , good to get out, and a walk I would do again.
Cap doffed again to The Lake district again. Cheers

Nice walk that. Just curious as to how you managed to include Kirk Fell?
