Evening Stroll up Meall nan Tarmachan

With the forecast for better weather from tea time onwards we made our way towards the Lawyers range to have an evening walk up Meall nan Tarmachan and when we arrived Around 6.30 the majority of walkers had done their thing and left for the day and no doubt tucking into Fish and chips and a glass of something. As we were hoping to climb the remaining munros that we hadn’t already climbed in this part of the world we hoped that along with MnT the Sunday would be taken up by doing Ghaordaidh.
So off we went through the gate and along the road and before long came across the path that would take us up onto the ridge. It is a good path and we made good steady progress and we settled into a good pace and before long we were looking down on lochan na lairige and the impressive dam.

Before long we were turning north onto the ridge and following the good path that took us up to the 923 metre top.

From there you can see the path crossing the flat grassy area before easing its way between the crags. As it got into the crags the path becomes a bit steeper but we now could see that we weren’t too far from the top. There was the usual clag hanging around but with the good path were able to carry on at a good pace until we reached the top and turning left to the cairn we had made it in 2 hours.

So with the light still good we made our way down by going back the way we came and after 40 mins we were back at the car. It was a great wee walk and with a nice temperature was not to taxing on the body. After our walk we decided to wild camp and we found a piece of ground at the north end of lachan na larige which was ideal.

However, the wheels came off the plan for the Sunday as the rain came during the night and at midday was still stairrods and although we were dry and warm inside, we eventually decided to go home, leaving Meall Ghaordaidh for another day.
