Man Flu on Achaladair

ACHOO ! ACHOO ! ACHOO ! Woke up Sunday morning early SNIFF,SNIFF,SNIFF,meeting JB at 6.00am & of to Bridge of Orchy,target for to-day Chreachain & Achaladair,COUGH,COUGH,COUGH,only 19km & 6 / 7 hrs walking,nae bother,sweat this cold out of me if its the last thing I do mmm.
Parked up at Achaladair Farm & on our way by 8.00am in typical gammy weather ! By this time eyes streaming,throat closed,nose running like the Allt Ur which we need to cross at the ford,but not to-day,so back track and cross the wooden bridge further up stream,once over pick up the good track & make good time along the path and soon reach the ruins of Tom na Grobh farm
Sweating buckets,but sill feel ok,so onwards & soon upwards,SNIFF,COUGH,SNIFF,once past the farm you come to a sign,and follow it too the right No path now just deep bracken & heather which is soaking wet & even better the wee barstewards are out in force,head down & plod on,soon come to the shaky bridge over The Water of Tulla,where JB is first across Once across safe have a wee look back,the river is in spate & glad were across The air is warm & damp,more heather, bracken & wee barstewards to walk through before you get to the underpass at the railway Once through here,you clear the bracken,heather,trees & midges & now onto the open hill & start climbing,ACHOO,ACHOO,SNIFF,COUGH,ACHOO,the climb up onto Creachain seams takes for ever,in fact from the time we left the car to the summit takes us 4hrs 5min,there is no path just follow the stream flowing down the hillside By the time we reach the summit I"m done in,but one more in the bag Have a good break,get some food in,pop some more pills,take some pics Next up the minor top of Meall Buidhe,SNIFF,SNIFF COUGH,ACHOO,change base layer,new Berhaus jacket working well,old base layer soaking wet,but only from sweat,not because jacket is not working Weather takes a wee turn for the better & manage to get some views before it closes in again Then back into the clag & the summit of Achaladair & summit pic Did not bother to stop here,legs like jelly & still a fair bit to go(didnt realise how far till later) COUGH,COUGH,COUGH,SNIFF! jeez not felt this bad for a long time,dropped of the summit,but had to stop & take another break& pop more pills,now starting to rattle mmm,thats 8 Beechams Capsules downed from 6.00am & its now 3.00pm,have a long rest here & take some more pics Drop down now to the bealach above Coire Daingean where JB has a wee look at Beinn an Dothaidh,and thinks about carrying on,I just have a wee laugh & say carry on mate & while your up there just do Beinn Dorain also & I"ll pick you up at Bridge of Orchy Station,cause theres only one way for me & thats back to the car The next hour & a half was murder,with all the recent rain fall the path was just a bogfest,was so glad when we got back to the car No hanging around,quick change into dry clothes,drive back down to Tyndrum,into the Green Welly,over to the beer fridge,& 2 pint bottles of ICE COLD MILLER,funny thing is feel great,no sniff,no cough,no sneeze,man that MILLER has magical powers,or did I just have man flu
