We (my wife and myself) are fairly new to hill walking especially in winter. Thought this would be a good walk to try as it appeared on first look to be straightforward and not too challenging.
Turns out it was a decent challenge for a beginner and with snow on the ground in places and ascent steep to begin with. Weather was okay, a bit rainy to start the walk and the faint path was 'lost' due to long grass being flattened through the heavy snows of December. With no path we made a direct approach as described on this website as the first peak was visible below the clouds. On the way up we came across the path as the grass cleared. Nice and snowy at the Trig. Weather cleared on the way down making it a pleasent descent.
Time was fairly slow but expected as first one of the year and lots of ice and snow around. One to redo in summer.
