Another lucky day with the weather saw us complete the Lochnagar five!

The Lochnagar 5!
It started off very sunny from the car park at the Spittal of Glenmuick (£3 for the day) and got a little windy when we got part way up over the 'ladder'.

Fairly straightforward route and a very easy five Munro's once you have gained the height. From the car park follow the obvious path (think it's best to go anti-clockwise, leaving the walk out along the south side of Loch Muick). At the cairn at the bottom of the Corbett (Conachcraig), head up to the foot of Meikle Pap and continue up the ladder to the plateau.

Once there follow the path all the way round the Corrie of Lochnagar and continue on good path and you will come to the large cairn of Cac Carn Mor. Continue on a short distance and you reach the summit of Lochnagar (Cac Carn Beag).

After enjoying a coffee and a sandwich (and the fab views) it's a easy jaunt over to the summit of the 2nd Munro (Carn a' Choire Boidheach) - it took about 45 mins.

From here there's a little descent down to the path then back up to either Carn an t-Sagairt Beag or straight up the the 3rd Munro (Carn an t-Sagairt Mor).

Along the way you should come across the wreckage from a Canberra jet that crashed here in 1956.

Easy enough walk along to the next munro (Cairn Bannoch)

and then the final Munro (Broad Cairn).

The final munro is a little bouldery and the decsent requires a little care and attention but easy enough.

Once you get down to the pony shed you have a choice of path to exit back to the car park.

On a good day, best to stick to the higher ground as the views are good.

If the weather is poor, it is recommended to drop down to the lower route along the shores of Loch Muick.

Long walk out but not too taxing.
