Initially meant to do Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh and An Stuc. Made use of the hotel car park and set off at 9.15. The weather was dry although cloudbase was below summit height. Meall Greigh in view and it was easy enough to find a good route up. The summit was occaisionally visible through the cloud, Ben Lawers top could not be seen. Reached the top in mist with a cold breeze. I didnt hang about long.
- Meall Greigh summit
The descent to Meall Garbh was straight forward although a bit on the boggy side. The ascent up the hill looked pencil straight and steep and I have to say I did find it quite tiring. Weatherwise it was still a bit murky.
- Meall Garbh summit
An Stuc- an altogether different hill and now I got my second wind. And the sky began to clear. I could see Ben Lawers summit now, shame not do do it as well
- An Stuc
Onwards to Ben Lawers now with the occaision sun making an appearance.
- Ben Lawers
Over to Beinn Ghlas, my last hill today
- Beinn Ghlas
Now to try and make my way back to the hotel.
From the top I headed for the visitor centre car park where i managed to cadge a lift (thanks Jessica's Mum from Creiff) to the A827 and then another lift to the hotel ( and thanks Montrose club member).
I had a long drive back (Greenock) so restricted myself to a very refreshing cup of tea in the hotel.
We all have days, i'm sure, we especially enjoy. This was one of my best days on the hills. Roll on the next one.
