Four Fannichs

I had hoped to do all 9 Fannichs in the one outing from the south with a cycle up the private road and a overnight camp on the hills in July, but the weather wasn't the best so called it off. So as i was spending a week in Inverness i took the opportunity to get some of them done. As i arrived at the dam the heavens opened and it did not look good, i even considered about turning and doing the Corbett down the road, saving this walk for another day but a couple next to me were getting kitted up so this spurred me on. So on with the water proofs which weren't on for long and off up the track, left the track just as it crosses the river and took the path up to Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich. From here it was round the ridge to Sgurr Mor, then down and over Carn na Criche and round to Sgurr nan Clach Geala, the most impressive Munro of the round. From here i retraced my steps to the plateaux and headed north to Meall a' Chrasgaidh. It turned out to be a great day in the end with the only difficulty being coming off Meall a' Chrasgaidh. Also a mountain bike would have been a good aid as far as the track.

I've just been reading your other reports as well as this one - you've certainly been busy :D Giving me ideas for the future though I suspect it'll be quite a while yet before I can get this far north 8)

With all the days you've been out, does this mean you have some serious brownie points to earn ?

Thanks for that Johnny, I recognise the big boulder between the mountains and some of the rocks/crags on Sgurr nan Clach Geala from my misty memories earlier this summer.....well done! :D

What an adventure! I bet you're glad you persevered after your reluctant start. Some cracking looking hills and ridges in the photos despite the low cloud.

Well done, loved this report :D

Well done johny,
Good walk there. Shame about the weather though. Your route of Meall a' Chrasgaidh looks pretty steep. Nutter :D

Thanks Polly, the ridge walking was up there with the best and you get great views of Torridon and An Teallach. The weather turned out not too bad in the end Monty and i should have went a bit further north before coming off Meall a' Chrasgaidh but i was just wanting a quick route off :D
