Spent the weekend on the Beautiful Isle of Arran. Arrived late Saturday Afternoon after watching the ferry come into Ardrossan and complete an awesome handbrake turn.

We stayed at the Belvedere Guest house in Brodick, thanks to Chris and Jan for a very friendly stay. Apart from a few showers on Saturday I was hoping the weather was going to hold up on Sunday. No such luck....Right I wasn't here to stare at the hills so we pitched up at the Brewery (great start/stop for a walk!)

up up the Goatfell we went.

To say the North Westerly that was blowing was mental is an understatement as on the way down/up I watched it knock several folk over. I've now come to the conclusion that we should rename Scotland's Corbetts to Cloudy Corbetts, because every time I go up one it's Pea Soup.

The path to the summit is very good. However the next time we visit I think an ascent from Corrie will be the way as the path up onto North Goatfell looks cracking.

Overall the weekend was superb and I'm already planning my next visit, probably to Glen Rosa as the view over to Beinn Tarsuinn looked amazing when we could see it Of Course. Can't wait to visit the Chocolate shop again in Brodick wow! :D
Look around in the fog!.JPG

You were unlucky with the weather - we left Brodick by the 11.05 ferry on Sunday and it was raining. We'd had a great week - only 2 hours of rain in total - I'm not normally that lucky. I'll post my Goatfell - Cir Mhor report later when I've sorted the photos.

You're right about the handbrake turn at Ardrossan - experienced it myself yesterday - he brings 5000 gross tons of ferry in at quite a lick too.
