Inchnadamph, Gleann Dubh, CONIVAL and BEN MORE ASSYNT

:D :D :D
I had heard mixed accounts from others who had climbed Ben More Assynt ranging from "it's hard-going", "it's long and wet under-foot" and "oh, there's a mini aonach eagach on that one". Make your own mind up if you think Valerie and I enjoyed this day out in the mountains?
Driving up from our base at Dornie near Achiltibuie I was awe-struck by the splendour once again of this amazing area north of Ullapool. The Coigach, Stac Pollaidh, Cul Mor, Suilven and Quinag all nearly had me parking up early and changing my plan, but Inchnadamph with Conival and Ben More Assynt was our challenge today, so I kept the motor running savouring the drive up through Lochinver and round Loch Assynt to our starting point. With 7 or 8 kilometres to go in the car I could see the Inchnadamph Forest area in the cloud! I temporarily longed to return to the area behind us of glorious Grahams and Corbetts, but the wee wife insisted on sticking to the plan...hehehehehe
Hope you enjoy these photos......

Gleann Dubh - a very pleasant walk-in.

Striding two boulders in the burn. Look at the weather, improving all the time.

The mini aonach eagach en route to the southeast munro top......(we elected to enjoy the silvery summit of Ben More Assynt with an extended lunch stop missing out the AE extension, before returning via Conival again).

A gorgeous clear wee lochan, back at the bealach north of Conival. A small weasel was spotted darting around the rocks here on the way up.

This was a day when the rest of the country was in down-pour! Our decision to head north before a few days in Skye had proven to be an excellent one.

Loved the report and the pic of your balancing act! Your report on cruachan and the bit on the slabs gave me the confidence to tackle it yesterday. Cheers!

Another really enjoyable report Bod :D Reading your report and seeing your pictures makes me realise I really must get back to these two. When I did these I didn't get any of the views you enjoyed, as all I had was clag, clag, clag  I'm glad you had better luck than me with the weather though :D
