A walk in the sun

Went up this fine hill on Sunday 4th September. It was a late decision and needless to say we weren't up and at 'em particularly early. When we arrived it was fairly busy with a few people ahead of us on their way up (and down) the hill. I found the starting climb quite heavy going, probably says more about my fitness than the hill, but soon got into my stride.

As we climbed the views were pretty good looking across to Lawers and back down over the loch. It was also quite good to be able to see the carpark at all times - it really gave you a sense of how you were progressing as the car got smaller and smaller...

We reached the unnamed summit and stopped for a bite to eat (this bit was like a meeting point, there seemed to be loads of people having a brew and a blether) and then we set off towards the true summit. After descending for a bit we came to an electric fence with a ladder over it and a section of wooden fencing which I inadvertently managed to pull down. After a bit of hasty DIY fence mending it was up the steep scramble to the summit.

Views from the top were stunning and made it all worthwhile! You could see for miles and even as far as the mighty Nevis itself. Another stop for food and some pics and then it was time to decide what to do next..After some consideration it was decided to leave the ridge for another time as it was now getting on and we had places to be and people to see. Anyway, it'll give us an excuse to come back and climb this cracking wee hill again!

Next up, Nevis...watch this space!
