Man,it's turned out braw!

20% chance of cloud free tops and every chance of a soaking today according to the forecasts ,wrong!It actually turned out fine in the end as myself,ian and jake set off from the car park at 8 sharp

It did look a bit grim as we set off though and decided to head up the good path to tackle creag meagaidh first as the reports on the path up to carn laith were not good and we would find this to be true later.

Made good time up to the lochan and got some good looks at the cliffs and crags of coire ardair

Had a quick pit stop here before tackling the window ,this was a steep wee clamber but the coire was looking impressive from here ,still a bit clagged in though

At the top of the window it was a left turn and up the hill to creag meagaidh,lost the path in the thick cloud on the way up somewhere and missed the first big cairn and got to the first munro in just under 3 hours

Had a cuppa here and headed back down the path and by the time we got to mad meg's cairn things were starting to improve greatly

The views were opening up now and we could see along the ridge we would walk and could pick out the cairns on stob coire poite ardair

It's a quick descent and reascent up to the second munro and by now the clouds had lifted high enough to give us great views all round

No sure which cairn was the highest ,no matter got some pics taken and headed along the long but easy walk to carn laith

really enjoyed this part of the walk ,the sun even came out now and again and it was just before carn laith when we met the only other walkers we seen all day,2 guys doing the hills in the opposite direction to us,a quick chat and then summit sandwich on carn laith

we were saying how lucky we had been with the weather on the way down when we came across the worse part of the walk,the end part of the path/river was a bit of a boggy nightmare ,could here ian cursing and swearing as he fell on his arse,only glad we never went up this way as it would have been soul destroying at the start of a long day

there's a path in there somewhere

Anyhow once back on the main track we were back in the car park in no time,a great day ,catching a good break with the weather ,getting the hills more or less to ourselves and of course the customary pint on the way home

Nice report pigeon.
I'd heard about that path to/from Carn Liath in quite a few other reports. Hopefully by the time I get to do this round it'll be clearer.

Cheers Kev and Skuk ,Polly no sure about alternatives to the path ,maybe it's not always like that it had rained quite heavy for most of the week,would recommend the clockwise route as apart from the path it looks like a long slog up carn laith,better to head up the path to the lochan and climbing up the window,in my opinion likes ken
