Headed up to Glen Doll this morning for Driesh and Mayar, weather forecast was to be wet but why listen to them, when do they ever get it right ? unfortunately they did today, anyway arrived at car park(£2 parking charge, pity we didn't have any change with us) at 9.30am and set of up onto the mist covered mountains following the Kilbo path, the rain at this point was not to bad and it was not until we reached the top of Shank of Drumfollow where we stopped for a cuppa and corned beef sannies at some ideal shelter stones that it got much heavier and with a good strong wind blowing it made for a good bracing walk along the well trodden path as far as the prominent left turn in the fence line, although the path on to Mayar to the right looked like it would be easy to follow we decided to take a bearing to be on the safe side and carried on, soon arriving at the cairn where there was one chap trying to get a bit of shelter from the prevailing wind and rain,we chatted for a few minutes and he told us he had spent the night in the shelter on Jocks road and was probably stopping there again tonight,we said our cheerios and he headed of to Driesh with us following soon after,so it was just a case of retracing our footsteps until we reached the track taking us up to the trig point and shelter on Driesh and time for another cup of tea, then it was downhill all the way back to the car park for 4.15pm following the route we had come.Despite the weather it turned out be a very enjoyable not to demanding day out.
