Had a late afternoon free, so something short and sweet was on the cards, a quick browse of the Corbett map and it was a toss up between this and Beinn Bheula. Having seen an Fhidhleir on the many times driving The Rest & Be Thankful and always thinking it looked a good rugged hill, this would be the choice.

Parked at the Butterbridge carpark at 15:45 and on my way 5 mins later, cloud well broken, fairly warm with just a bit of a breeze. The start of the walk is via a gate just off the track into Glen Kinglass, and the trudge up to a still is wet and muddy! Once over the stile head for the very obvious grass gully as per WH route.

From here the views of the surrounding scenery are fantastic..

Beinn an Lochain, still one of my favourites

Once up the gully you get a full view of wee Loch Restil and more fine views of the fantastic Beinn an Lochain, and even Big Ben More peeks out to say hello

Once it levels out for a bit the going gets very squelchy and pathless, as visibility was good today I just made a beeline for the grass in between the crags just left of centre of this pic, which was on the steep side and may be tricky when wet

My ascent route just left of centre, rather steep!

From the top here, it's a short walk to the true summit, I've read with some confusion over the naming of this, but I believe it's Stob Coire Creagach, and Binnein an Fhidhleir is the slighty lower top at the West end of the ridge, which I didn't visit, but in hindsight I probably should have, as it would have been a fine vantage point. Nevertheless the views weren't exactly shabby from where I was 8)

Descended via the ascent route without any mishaps, though I reckon this could be a tricky hill to navigate in clag due to the many crags. Thoroughly enjoyed this wee walk and plan to go back again and do the full ridge as the view down Loch Fyne must be great :D

Haha that weather is a distant memory now. Beinn an Lochain was one of the 1st I did. It looked impossible as you drive by it, great fun wee walk.

Very true Chris, been on a few of the smaller ones and had some fantastic views, maybe that's just because the bigger ones I've done lately have been in the clouds :problem:

Haha I quite like throwing in a Corbett or Graham now and again, some of them are alot tougher than some of the Munro's. Good for navigation practice too on the pathless ones :)

Reading this report puts me to shame for not having made more of an effort to get to the Corbetts and Grahams in this part of the country, although they are not the easiest to get to from Perth. :(

I'm lucky that this area is just 30-45 mins up the road, some good fun hills up that way :D
