Parked up at the Mamore Lodge Hotel and was on our way for half eight. As per the route description, parking here saves 200m of ascent, and being overweight and over 40 I wasn't going to pass up that easement...
Weather was OK, but thick clag and rain coming on and off meant it was a very damp start to the day. Followed the very clear path round and up to Coire an Lochan.
- Past Coire an Lochan
A straightforward climb up the minor summit at 1062, followed by a half kilometre walk out the the Binnear Mor summit on a broad ridge. Weather was just gradually starting to clear a bit, and in the distance the rest if the walk was to the sound of stags calling. Not exactly a roomy summit so we stopped briefly for lunch.
- Towards Binnein Mor
- Binnein Mor summit
- Looking towards Na Unpronounceable
Back along the ridge then out along the western ridge to the Na G summit. Great little ridge walk, must be something else on a clear day.
- Ridge up to Na G
- Ben Nevis
Cleared up a bit on the top of Na G, and we got some great views down to Kinlochleven and beyond.
- Loch Leven
- Toward Mamore Lodge
The path soon fades on the descent, and the clag returned making navigation a bit more tricky. Seemed to take a loooong time to descend - not a fan of pathless, grassy, wet and steep(ish) hills...
At the bottom of the hill we were met by...a six foot deer fence. Had a wander along the base looking for a ladder or a gate, but no joy, so had to make a rather awkward crossing.
Easy walk back to the car, 6 hours very happy.
Great day out, shame we couldn't have had some of the heatwave the South enjoyed!
