So you have these crazy grouse as well I had honestly never seen so many ever!!! I got really excited seeing them at first and then after 20 minutes of stopping the car to let them cross the road... the novelty soon wore off!!! Still hope I didn't kill any of them though

Were they the black grouse or just plain brown ones? If it'd been the black ones you could have made a fortune selling them to top restaurants

Oh lordy there's going to be a lot super-mega friendly greetings on the hills from now on   Can't wait!!!

On a more serious note. I always want to hi so that people remember me should something happen while I'm out there on my own. And I always appreciate any advice or warnings that will be helpful on my route :D

Nice report Polly, at least now I can see what Driesh and Mayar look like, I was up there in August 2009 and could barely see 50 feet in front of me.

Polly,

Reading your description of the birds, are you sure they were grouse? Pheasants, perhaps?

Wow, you are right! They were pheasants, hundreds of them!!

That is a fantastic site for identifying birds, I'll be using it in the future :D

It's nice and warm - there are two nuclear power stations just out of shot.
