Great report there Polly, shame about not getting a view though. Its central position and cone shape make it a very good view point.

Done this one towards the end of August this year and it night nearly made me turn back, no not because of wind or rain, but because of the heat. It was open too the early morning sun and I was moving way too fast for my own good. Had too slow down and load up on sugar and fluids before I could get going again.

Apart from the bog, It was a very nice walk and gave alot of views. It would have been even better if the cloud base further North wasn't so low :(

Is it just me or is Invervar the unfriendliest village in Scotland?

They used to have a huge gate on the access road like the black gate of Mordor which only opened about two days a year. No pub, no shop, not even anywhere to park. I always feel like I'm being watched through the net curtains and hear the sound of rifles being cocked. Feels like a place with dark secrets.

The little shop/cafe at Bridge of Balgay does good soup though.

Scotjamie wrote:Nice one Polly. Very enjoyable report with your usual humour and brightness. Walked MG solo a few years ago - not only missed your obvious cairn, but also missed the obvious sign and obvious path, and marched straight up from Tullich (harder but less boggy). Shouldn't rub it in, but views are very good, though I missed the views inside the Lade.

Jings, we would be a dynamic duo!

Oh Rockhopper, whiteouts!!! That's why winter walking scares me!!

Thanks SU :D

Initially I thought 'lucky you getting a bit of heat' but then I remembered how awful I felt when I was doing really long runs during the summer. At least you were astute and did what you had to do to carry on safely. :D

Oh Dan,

That sounds really creepy, didn't know about the gate

You're right though, there were a lot of people with guns. Maybe its not just during the culling season

Thanks for the heads-up about the cafe

Nice report Polly...the clag seems to have been around a lot this second part of the year :( We were looking to do this hill but couldn't get parked in the wee layby and so went on to Meall nan Tarmachan :D Will get round to it again maybe at the beginning of the year... :D

Great report Polly, I really enjoyed it - you make me laugh so much with your description of events. As for getting shot through your new jacket, that's just not sporting is it  I'm glad you chose to move on, it means we get more of these stories in future :D
