Daniel and Clare, as you both know, I'm ambulant disabled, and your report really made me feel that I'd taken part in your walk and was able to enjoy everything you saw, thank you.

We stayed at Shieldaig last October (2010) and, not only enjoyed the Torridon area, but also had good weather

Excellent detailed report and great pics. When I was up in Torridon in August this year I was looking at the west end of Liathach from below Ben Alligin to see if there was a route off - looks like it is do-able, thanks.

Many thanks everyone for the kind comments: we had a great day so it's been nice to share it with people... We were worried the report would be too long - perhaps it was for some people, but we're very glad to hear you've appreciated it... It's probably downhill from here: any more we post will probably be shorter and worse, as we don't have too much time or many decent photos from most of our walks! But we would like to post some more at some point...

Good choices - both the accommodation and the route. Did you see any pine martens and otters at Lochside?

The route is a great one - other than the summit it's very quiet - and you got a great day and amazing reflections

Brenda Macrow mentions this approach to Mullach in "Torridon Highlands".

Many thanks. Yes, we saw otters and pine martens. We were a bit naughty with the pine martens. When we arrived Jo at the Torridon stores gave us some ex-table jam to put out for them, but it did the trick... We got a great view of a couple of otters round the jetty. We could hear them crunching fish as they swam around and then walked onto the jetty.

We'd forgotten that Brenda Macrow did Liathach "the wrong way round". We must re-read it now we've been on the hill.

Your photos of Torridon you posted recently were breathtakingly beautiful - all your photos were: we can't live up to those but were very happy that you enjoyed the report and what you and others have said makes us feel it was worth doing. We don't get to log on to the forum very often at the moment, but hope soon to have a good look at some more reports and maybe post a few more things - will keep an eye out for any of yours!

Thanks for your kind words on my Glen Shiel adventure. Very much appreciated. I'm still a bit gobsmacked at the honour, as there are so many excellent reports posted on this site, like yours for instance.

Reading your report was incredible. Liathach is a hill I love, but still have to visit. For sheer presence I think it is up there as one of the best this great country has to offer. I loved your alterntaive take on this hill and the surrounding area and the wonderful way in which you have described it. It was clear from the effort and detail that this is an area you both love. Hopefully 2012 will see me experiencing the magic of Liathach for myself.

I immediately remembered reading your previous report: superdetailed, rich. One can tick of hills from 'a list' and one can pick up the magnifying glass and do a Sherlock Holmes on the map to predict where the sweet spots will be and climb them. This is a peculiar magnifying glass: turn it over and you see the lichen and the butterflies... Amazing, where did you get it?
