On Thursday, my group wanted to do a walk. Our trip organizer wanted to walk over from near Kilmarie to Camasunary Bay and into Glen Sligachan. I opted to add an ascent to Sgurr na Stri. The weather was very nice this day, with mostly sunny skies, warm tempatures, but just enough wind to keep cool and keep midges down a bit.

Looking into the Red Hills as we drove around Loch Slapin:

The south ridge of Bla Bheinn obscured in the clouds:

Don figuring out where I am headed:

My route to the summit, ascent in red, descent in blue. No one in my group went with me, and it felt good to go at my own pace for a change:

Had to make a stream crossing:

Looking up at the ascent. I went up between the west side of Sgurr Hain on the right and the high ground in the center:

I ended up following a streambed because the footing was good, and being a paddler, I enjoy checking out how water shapes the rocks:

Looking back down at Camasunary Bay:

And up into the couloir I was headed into:

Near the top there was a small waterfall:

Reaching the top of the ridgeline:

Sgurr nan Gillean, Am Basteir, and Sgurr na Uamha:

I met a small herd of red deer:

Looking down at Loch Coruisk:

Out towards Rum and Eigg:

For a brief moment, the summit of Bla Bheinn was unobscured by coulds:

A couple from England made their way to the summit and took this photo for me:

Looking south off the summit towards Elgol and Point of Sleat Beyond:

Marsco catches some sun on the way back down:

Some of the falls as I recross the stream. I'd love to have one of my whitewater boats here when this is in spate:

Looking back to the west from Am Mam:

After linking up with friends and headed back to Camuscross, the views continued to enchant:

Unfortunately we were nearly mugged by this Isle of Skye street gang:

Enjoy!!!

Interesting choice of hill! Great moody photos too - my fave sort! :) I love photos with moody skies and swirling mists like these. Fantastic views from that hill eh.

Walking on my own isn't a break for me as I push myself mercilessly and come back exhausted - I'm far better having to walk at others' pace!

Thanks MC. I had read on here that it was one of the better viewpoints in the UK, and it did not disappoint. The weather did all the work, I just pointed a little electronic box to capture the moment. I chose this hill because it meshed well with the walk they wanted to do, and allowed me to get a summit.
