Camera broken on Bookil!
Posted: Sun Nov 06, 2011 9:54 pmWe started out at around 11.45am from Altnafeadh, making our way directly into and up Coire Na Tulaich to the bealach below Stob Dearg. We have climbed a number of hills in this area now and tend to use either Glencoe village or nearby Ballachulish as our base for this outstanding area.
We soon gained height and were enjoying the views over the Devil's Staircase and across to the Mamores, the weather was fine but the forecast was for it to worsen later in the day...... We were well prepared for what was to come!
The going is fairly tough to the bealach with scree to negotiate nearer the top, upon reaching the bealach we had our first view of the stunning Bidean Nam Bian partially under snow.

We spent only a few minutes on the summit as the weather was already starting to close in and the jackets were out of the bag. A little disappointed that we couldn't stay longer we made our way back to the bealach for the traverse to Stob Na Broige. People were passing us on their way down and it seemed that we were the only ones left on the ridge......Fantastic!
We were now making good progress closing in on the end of the ridge and the second Munro - Stob Na Broige. The weather was still trying to hold out for us, although the rain had started and the wind was beginning to get up. The views though - unbelievable!
Upon reaching the ridge between Stob Coire Altruim and Stob Na Broige the ridge suddenty disappeared in the Clag. The picture tells a story of what was to greet us on the summit.

The last quick photo before the descent into and return along the Lairig Gartain and the long wet walk back to Altnafeadh.
We arrived back at the car in the dark and had forgotten to put the camera in the waterproof liner, it has not worked since and is still in the airing cupboard! Still another great day and outing in Glencoe, a magical place!

Will have to do it again in better weather as I was diappointed to have missed the views to Glen Etive from Broige.
