Chan ionann gealladh is coileanadh.
Promises are easy to make

Ach all good intentions get spoiled by the works christmas day/night out! well that , black ice and a late snow plough.
It was my charge to go back into Gleann Comhann today and give that Buachaille Eite Mor a return match however the combo of the aforementioned meant i was slightly late in starting so i chose to tackle Garbh Bheinn with the cú and crampons to secure my old nose which took a beating last week ,its only 25mins from my home :)

i took an non traditional route which although longer gives a less steep climb and it proved to be a grand choice. The weather was well good and kinda frasach or showery so i was hopeful of some views at the mullach and after a view bit height things were looking promising with nice views to Loch Suaineart

DSCF3766.JPG

The snow field was at around 300metres and we soon found ourselves in the thick of it with grand views back to Suaineart and Resipole looking grand with a thick cover of snow

Its a long haul in the snow and for about ten minutes we caught ourselves in a blizzard which by Dhia's grace did nt decide to stick on our target.

At this height the snow was nice and good purchase under feet so i stuck to the poles for a while the wind was strong and -8 in the chill but the grian kept poking herself out and as luck would have it we got a sustained period of sunshine the best i ve had on the hill for a while.

At the first cárn we got a view of the target and she was looking cráic indeed :)

As we dropped down to the bealach there was a change under foot now with crisp ,soft ,hard and icy patches throughout so a stop was undertaken to cuir ort an crampons and grasp the ice axe ....there is gonna be no repeats of last week

The druim mor was fine walking with knee deep snow so a bit tiring and the cu who i decide to allow up was greatly enjoying disappearing up to his nose in drifts

It can't get any better on a cold ,sunny December day in the snow i was in my element and the hangover which i aint mentioned till now had died a death :)
There was grand light and movement of clouds ,mist and spindrift in the sunlight

Deas gu an tir mor

We made our way down in good order tired but content and were treated to a nice sun set over the Morvern bheinn and knowing i was only twenty mins from home once i reached the car was well kind of cool ,we are spoiled really living in the Gaidhealtachd.I reckon thats the last for this year although who knows maybe a wee cheeky walk in between Nollaig agus Bliadhna Ura

Perfection - there seems to be plenty of snow out west!

A favourite area of mine, and one I hope to visit more over the next few years 8)

I'm pleased that someone was out making tracks on the Ardgour tops yesterday.....they were looking quite stunning from the 'other side' in the early morning light.....difficult conditions for An Cu :)
