Opened the curtains today to beautiful sunshine - not what I was expecting. Thought It would only last an hour or so. It didnt, it lasted all day!!! Got to just around 2pm and couldnt take anymore, grabbed the prepacked rucksack, a flask of tea, Ruby and we were off.

I am priviledged to live right at the gates of Scotland's "Walkers theme park" so it was only a 10minute drive to my favourite distillery!! Glengoyne.

This walk reminded me of Ben A'an. It's a little mountain in miniature!

Up and down in 90 minutes - ya beauty!!!

That's not fair. I opened my curtains today to see heavy cloud and persistent rain :( :( And Beauly is only a wee bit further north! I guess we got all the winter, you got all the spring...
This hill looks interesting. A great little cracker with lovely views. :D

Was also up the hills today - a bit colder over on Culter Fell but still a beautiful day - did you have a wee one from the distillery?

Silly question but I see a lot of these longer thinner pictures on reports, how would one achieve this? I presume it's camera dependant?

Thanks

What time were you up? I went up and down from Menstrie between about 12.00 and 1.30. Perhaps you were the couple I spoke to coming down as I was going up.

It was a great day for being up, the views across the forth were lovely. No that wasn't us, we went up after my work - set off from the car park on the Sheriffmuir road at about 2:30pm. Will need to try it from the Menstrie end as we always take the easier route lol

Thanks for the comments all.

DJ - think it is camera dependant. I use an Olympus Tough in panorama mode which means that I basically take 3 pictures and the camera edits them into 1.

Kev - No I didnt go for a dram. One of my friends is a supervisor at the distillery and if I had dropped in I'd probably still be there - at the back of the bonded warehouse recovering from a tasting session of the "angels share"!!

Johnny - what a difference a few days make! looks very cold and bleak on monday!!

Think our dogs met as we were coming back from Earls seat and you were just about to start up Dumgoyne after crossing the fence/stream, what a great day it was

One day I will conquer this hill!
First time I tried I was new to this hill walking lark and failed miserably, was walking with a club that I won't name as I didn't find them very friendly and their reaction to my failed attempt (and 2 other women) was most uncomplimentary, I never went out with them again.
Second time I took my then 22yr old daughter, who only had trainers on, didn't make it to the top due to falling about laughing at her slip-sliding all over the place
One day I will conquer it!

Just a quick update to complete this walk report for my diary. Went out yesterday to bag Earls seat instead of heading to Killin - BBC weather predicting clear skies over central and rain/clouds in Killin- correct!!!. 3 hours total (not including Dumgoyne - went up the left flank and straight on to Earls seat). Very windy and very very boggy!! Views fabulous as always.
