In the clag, but one in the bag

The meeting of the midweek sneaky peak club was a solo today as no one else could come out to play. :( Had this as a possible target, as it looked straight forward which is what I like if on my own.
Left Glasgow bright & sparky to ensure I was away before the traffic malarkey that gubs the M77 & M8 every morning had started.
Part of the reason for the choice was that MWIS had said that there may be sunshine in Glenshee. Great I will be able to use 'shee shee shine on' as the tittle for my walk report.
Not so the whole area shrouded in clag. :( Was missing GLW. Walked with him three times, & always with a vew.
Found the start easily as it’s the first track that you see once past the ski centre. The first gate was locked so a wee climb over & follow the track. I had read that the track goes over the river by bridge & then later fords it. Thought about following the bank before the bridge to save getting wet, but the river takes a huge loop so stuck with the track. Which was just as well because it’s a tributary you wade through not the river itself.
Take a photo of said river, put on my water proof trousers, poles out & through we go. Success only a slight trickle running down my ankle. Just after the track you break onto the hillside. Time for another photo. ‘Were the feck is my camera. Back across the river, still dry, camera not there. Back across the river, a bit wet looked around nothing. Back to the river & sure enough there it was right in the middle, got quite wet retrieving it.B*ll*cks.
The point to leave the track is obvious as there is a large wet boggy section that all WH aficionados will instantly recognise as ‘path’. Just before you cross the river you can see the cairn mentioned in the notes for this walk, but once you’re of the track it disappears for about 10 mins. Time to start on a bearing. Up I go. Mixed snow, heather & bog. Stopped at the cairn for a wee coffee, new bearing onwards & upwards. More snow now but the crust just not firm enough for my weight banding. Bit of a slog as the snow was deep in parts. The ridge walk I am sure would be a joy if you could see anything. The wind was pretty strong in the old sense of strong wind & the chance of light drizzle started, but cleverly disguised as driving rain. :( Did not last long though. Head down over the east top & continue to the summit. Did not hang about but straight back the way I came. Good few bum slides made for a quick descent. Stopped at the lower cairn for lunch & by the time I was as the track the sun was out, so the walk back to the car was very pleasant. Looked at the sun kissed heather that will make a lovely picture oh b*ll*ocks.
A great wee walk this which I did enjoy in spite the clag & my wrecked camera.
I will add the three photos I took once retrieved hopefully.

One of may favourite "default" hills when I cannae be ersed driving further. The ridge can be enjoyably followed pretty much all the way to Braemar (although the heather gets a bit deeper past Sgor Mor).

Good to hear you enjoyed your day anyway :) .
