And I thought who’s going to walk behind me and kick my arse all the way down the hill

I blame your friend for taking precipitate action  , I hope he's learned his lesson and made amends to you. Maybe a contribution of a new SOD? :)

I think you missed a trick - you could have bagged more hills whilst you were waiting for MRT.

A great insight into your epic, thanks for sharing. :D

Oh Blimey! Very brave of you to describe a 'character building event' in such public and graphic detail.

Not sure you should be allowed out without your mum

You suggest you met Taylor94 on these hills on 19th November 2011 - and your photos confirm that date.

However, Taylor94 did these hills on 6 December 2011 and his photos and blog confirm that date.

Was there a Delorian up on the hills?

To be honest, looking at the picture on the link it was'nt him, but when i looked up the darren taylor on the comedy club thing it did look a bit like the lad i walked with?
The darren i walked round with looked more like he was in his mid twentys, a really nice lad.
He did say he used WH and if he reads this maybe he can get in touch

This is the reason im giving the hills so much respect as a newbie. I will print your cautionary tale and staple it to my heid the next time i think i can just head out and not prepare my route and escape plan  ....Lucky

Epic stuff mate! Although you lost your bearings you had prepared well and could spend the night comfortably till daylight came - what a surprise if you woke up in Tescos Car Park

Glad your ok mate.

I did this round of 5 Dec 5th and heading to Munro number 2 i followed my compass, although my SOD was telling me otherwise...I could see a top 1k away and decided to head for it. Got there and turned on my GPS for it to tell me i overshot the 2nd Munro by 1k and 50m East from where i should have been. Turns out my compass had a bubble and was throwing me in the wrong direction. My instict (SOD) was correct. We, our group, continued using a combo of GPS and broken compasses as i felt safe on the plateau and being pointed in the correct direction.

My point is that its so easy to be thrown off course with SOD and compass (if broken - or read incorrectly as in Graeme Dewars TR). Mistakes will be made no matter what and as you and Graeme proved its how prepared we are and what we do in these circumstances that can be the difference of life and death.

Thanks for posting and informing others of the dangers that can arise.
