This was an excellent walk with stunning views across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. The track is well worn and easy to follow throughout the walk.

This walk begins at Cocklaw Foot Farm at the base of the cheviots. The farm can be reached by travling through either the Village of Yetholm or Morebattle and then following the sign posts for Cocklaw Foot, which is at the end of a single track road.

Parking is easy on the roadside. Go over the white bridge into the farm yard, turn right through the gate and follow the track all the way to the top of Windy Gyle. Once on the ridge top which forms part of the pennine way go through the gate known as chennel street and turn right following the track to the top.

The trig point is an ideal place to break for lunch. Follow the track down past the trig point and onto the lower ridge, the path splits up ahead. Follow the track to the right and this leads back down along the top of the rdige line into the vallay and back to the farm. All in all a nice easy walk.
