Ventured into the Lowther Hills and parked at a lay-by just west of Troloss (NS912083). From here a short climb up to Caplaw Rig and from there onto Well Hill (606m). Descended SW and onto the trig point on Black Hill. Returned by Penbane and over Well Hill. Great weather conditions and good visibility with some outstanding views despite all the hill furniture on Lowther Hill and Green Lowther. A new addition to the scene east is part of the giant Clyde wind farm - £600 million for 152 turbines, a few were turning lazily but I was pleased to see the majority were on strike! I wonder if they will reach 28% overall efficiency?

This walk is probably best done in snow as Caplaw Rig looks as if it could be very wet, the farmer has even fenced off some of the sinkholes so as not to lose livestock. Here are a few pics:-
