This was the seventh and final day of my winter Munro holiday. I had been very lucky with the weather – light winds and views from five of the eight summits. This day had the best weather of all.

My hire car was showing -7C in Killin that morning and I was nervous about ice on the Ben Lawers road. There were a few scary moments and lots of first gear on the downhill bends but I made the parking space by the dam without a scratch. There was nobody else parked there and I saw no one all day.

I had to get to Glasgow airport that afternoon and wanted to be sure that I had time in hand before stopping to take photographs. All of the pictures are from the summit and the descent but I have reordered them from bottom to top.

Steep and slippery – I put on my crampons for this

This is good! I did SaL on a February day 3 years ago. I forgot my camera that day. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Had I had it with me and bothered to take any pictures with it, my report would undoubtedly have been called "Stuchd an Lochain in sh**e winter weather"!

It's great to see the clear skies and excellent snow conditions! :D You certainly did well with the weather conditions and a good clutch of Munros on your holiday. Thanks for sharing. 8)

I was delighted with my efforts. I thought I would have days when it was too windy to go up and that most would be in cloud. Maybe I was due some luck with the weather - on my trip last summer I had 21 days walking and 18 of them were wet.
