The Pass of Drumochter, Dalnaspidal Forest

It was time for a return to Drumochter for Valerie and I with a chance to complete the four munros west of the A9, and we managed to climb the Sow of Atholl on the way back, added bonus. So it was Beinn Udlamain, Sgairneach Mhor and the Sow that provided us with a lovely day out in our wintery mountains with the added treat of bumping into Collaciotach and a couple of his friends descending Udlamain. It was fun realising that we recognised each other purely based on the fact we are walkhighlands cyber friends
Anyway good chats were had and we bid farewell setting off again in our opposite directions of the circuit, both of us looking forward to pint at the Kintail meet in a few weeks time We headed off first for Beinn Udlamain up the track into Coire Dhomhain followed by a carefully selected steep ascent onto the broad ridge above linking this mountain with A'Mharconaich (see the map above).
