Hi

Picked a brilliant day to do Ben Vorlich on Saturday.

Arrived at Inveruglas just before 7am so roads were great on the way up and car park was very quiet.

First off,i found this much harder than Ben Lomond and the path up lomond looks like it has been laid by
Amey compared to Vorlich. The vorlich path has a lot of loose rock and gravel and is steep. But great.Definately
a path for boots and good tread.

The walk up from inveruglas gives some great views back to Ben Lomond.

I had read that the path up Ben Vorlich was approx 1k back from the dam and marked by a small mound of stones, unfortunately in my haste i could not wait and headed up the hill at the point in the picture below. No other footprints on this route apart from the sheep.I am either a pioneer or an idiot.
This resulted in a horrible hike up through some really deep grass in large tussocks, tough on the knees and ankles.

I came up just to the left of the pylon and climbed up and traversed across the hill till eventually hit the path.

The path down is tough and i would say an ankle breaker.I eventually hit the road at the bottom (at the recognised start point)

This is what you should see from the start point.

I totally loved my day, morning on a munro afternoon in the Counting House.
Ben Vane next and then on to the rest of the munro,s on the Loch Lomond North map.

Hope you all managed to get some time in the sunshine over the weekend.

Lovely photos/views - I'm jealous - when we did it, all we saw was the inside of that familiar grey cloud! :( Maybe I'll do it again sometime

Well done David. Its a much harder hill than Ben Lomond. I was up there on Saturday also and the weather was great. I went up and down the way you came down and that was a tough climb. However, you picking your own way up was novel. Going your own way up these hills is great earlier in the year when the grass hasn't grown so much so I imagine it was quite hard going in places now the grass is longer.

Nice pictures too.

Well done David. It was a great weekend for going up high.

I did Ben Vorlich on the Friday and I too managed to miss the start of the path. :? I think I may have been studying Ben Vane to my left trying to spot a route up. Looking at your photo of the dam I think I went up just past the first pylon on the right. Not a good idea to try and start your own path. :)
