We did the exact route as on this website, up and down on the path. The hill has some history due to the aircraft accident in 1944 when 25 Canadian Airmen lost their lives, many of them in their twenties and some only 19. Not much more to say apart from it was a very good walk on a good path and the weather was very mild but windy on the summit with poor visibility.

Clag always seem present in the Southern Uplands, especially Galloway. Its a really creepy area in general when the mist's down and generally your the only one on the hill most of the time !

Need to get out and about and get myself ready for the summer on these hills. Great prep for the Highlands !

That plaque is rather poignant. I'm in Dumfries-shire in June so will definitely take this in. Cheers.

Monty, it's too early to mention the Midge, :D think it could be a bad year for then after this mild winter

SUK, this was only my second visit down this way and will return for some more walking, it's a great area. :D

Kev, Originally i thought the plaque was for one crash but after a wee bit research it's for 8 accidents on this hill from 1940-1979 :(
