Walkhighlands

As there have been quite a few reports of this walk recently by fellow members who failed to get any decent views i thought i'd do my bit and head up there on a nice sunny day and show them what they missed I won't say much about the walk as it's just a straightforward walk along the track with a few river crossings. As for the track, it was a nice walk through the glen but it was too long on hard ground for my dodgy knee, so next time i'd cycle it. We left the track for a bit to try the path but it was quite boggy so we returned to the track, though the path might be a better option when the water levels are higher. We returned the same way though we were going to head back down a differant route but it was too cold and windy on the summit with no shelter and we stopped at a rock on the way up that was ideal for lunch so headed back to that.

Wee mist the summit views by 20 mins it is sore on the feet on the way back nice picture's though.

Aha, I thought I recognised bits of that track skirting around below Mhanach - and then your third from last picture (of the wooden bridge over the channeled burn) brought it all back and I started having flashbacks and shaking uncontrollably at the memory of my wet, weary and at one point panic-stricken retreat from the area back in July 2010......

Some of the best views I've seen from that hill.

Well done Johnny...nice to see what it should look like from the top. Did you skirt all the way around the back of Beinn Chuirn on the ascent then hike up the slope from there?? We weren't sure how long that would put on our day so howked straight up the slopes at the bottom of the split in the path..over the top of Beinn Chuirn...then on to Mhanach. Quality thigh burning ascent!!!

Honest to goodness JC, you're like a heat-seeking missile!!! or a jammy git- you choose!!

Thanks for posting photos of what we missed because I doubt I could be tempted to back up this grassy lump to see for myself

Michael, it's easy to see it would be a difficult one to find in bad weather and a dedicated bagger to spend 30 minutes finding it

jstalker, we carried on the track to the bridge on the photos then went straight up Mhanach from there and it was steeper than it looked

Polly, the one thing we forgot for this walk was the suncream although it was cold and windy on the summit

Great day for you. The amount of WH folk that have been on it recently we must own rights to it or something.

Whether you are a jammy git or heat seaking missile as Polly says, i'm defo going to stalk you in Kintail

Enjoyed that Johnny - I can remember being up this hill just over a year ago but couldn't see anything higher up. You certainly got a great day for it with great photos - would agree that the bike could be useful - cheers

This was one of our 1st Munro's - it was almost our last! Never saw anything and got absolutely soaked so it was good to see what we missed.

Another fine Monday 5th - nice to finally have some good weather eh?
