Was up at 5 and over to Keiloch car park for about 5.50 am where I met up with Iain had a little chat and were away at 6.15am , still dark but wasn’t long before we had to turn off head torches off. Probably should have revised the cycle into but a quick turn around and at the gate to Gleann t-Slugain, a little bit up pushed bikes on the stony path and talked a bit more about each others hill-walking, took lower path past ruined lodge commenting about the “Secret Howff” being not far from here and the story behind it. Locked up the bikes and headed towards Meall an Lundain through the forest which made a pleasant walk, the route from here was going to be exact same which Monty had done previous week up alongside the forest onto Meall an Lundain and across to Beinn Bhreac for our first munro of the day, stopped here for the usual snaps and look at map. The day was clear not much wind and stunning scenery, unlike day before which I talked about with Iain on a few occasions. We made our way across Moine Bhealaidh where we saw the only person all day (which was a bit surprising considering how nice it was) ahead of us going up Beinn a Chaorainn. We decided to head for saddle leave bags and walk to summit from there, which was a good idea as there was after being a lot of ascending so far. From here we could see Bynack More and way north and Iain was able to identify hills that he had climbed west of the summit. Got bags and picked route off map to get to north top of Beinn a Bhuird down to 850 up past Loch and onto shoulder, but Loch must have vanished. On this climb I really felt it on the legs had to stop twice once for food another to take in views or that’s the excuse anyway, it wasn’t as bad as the others because it had some kind of level areas the other hills so far today just seemed to be so steep. The clouds had moved over us and changed jackets before the snow came down, at the summit Iain checked GPS for position to make sure we had right top, clouds cleared a bit until we got over to Cnap a Chleirich where maybe 20 feet visibility. Was I going back to Ben Avon with no views again, we walked over towards The Sneck close by Squareface to get onto path and eventually got a glimpse through the cloud followed it down past the boulders of The Sneck and up the small zig zag hill which I was taking bay steps at this stage and now and then cloud would shift to give us a view into Slochd mor. By the time we got to top the skies were clear again, as Iain walked ahead I shouted to him and pointed and we both headed to the giant rocks, when we climbed on top, I felt it a lot easier climb then last year and Iain said we are 50 metres out, the cloud was shifting about and the wind had picked up again, so walked about until we could see it through the clouds and the clouds vanished and make no mistake about it this was the summit here. The only problem we were on the other side and the climb up here nearly done me in looking at it, didn’t know if I could make it after such a long day we must have being walking about 12 hrs at this stage, so it was head down baby steps and try not look up, which was hard not to admire this natural structure, walked the last 10 meters with Iain and we both agreed that this last ascent had being torture, but when I look back was glad to see that summit from the other side, sat down under these Tors with sun setting and moon shining like a bulb and not even the energy to get camera out of bag to take a photo but some odd reason felt good . We still had a long way back so headed towards Carn Eas but when there was another ascent I said cant do it so we descended down the steep slope of Glas Allt Mor and back onto path to lead to bikes, which we eventually got too. The bike ride back was a bit hairy on the rocky path but enjoyable under the light of the moon through Gleann an t-Slugain and eventually back to the cars.

Wished each other luck for our drives home and said goodbye.

For me hardest walk so far since taking up hill-walking last year, but also the most enjoyable.

Small video photo’s aren’t great quality so maybe Iain can add some of his

nice one! i just havnt got the energy to write reports these days.

it was a long day but very worthwhile and hugely enjoyable :D

the bike ride out was certainly a bit hairy especially as we went out on the higher path and the brakes on my bike barely stopped me  kept thinking i was for going over the edge!

this was the second huge walk i've done in the area and it was fantastic and really made me appreciate the Cairngorms, such a beautiful and vast area with all the widerness anyone could want,

thanks again for walking this with me,even more so as you had already bagged ben avon and was willing to do it again,

cheers,
iain :D

oh and i'll add some pics up here today
