Nice report and well done on the scrambling and bum slide.
That food looks like it made it all worth while

I went down An Stuc the way you went up and it wasn't any more fun. I really need to try the food in the Lawers hotel :D

I was amazed by how steep the slope was in one of the photos until I realised that the image aspect was wrong.

For a minute there I thought An Stuc was looking a no-goer

We did this from the Ben Lawers side and it was pretty hairy going down it, saw some people going up the way and thought that looked easier but not so sure now looking at your report. We had to slide over rocks and pass down rucksacks to get over some tricky bits, this was the point I dropped the camera off my belt :( luckily we managed to find it and it was ok  :D

Would you say it is suitable going up An Stuc with a dog?

Depends on the dog - have they done similar things (i.e. steep ground verging into easy scrambling) before? Is it small enough to carry/lift up short steps?

She Is a collie and done about 50 munros but never had to do a proper scramble. Loose rocks yeh. Also not sure what kind of scramble An Stuc is so just wondering.

In dry summer conditions it's a very easy scramble, especially if you take the easiest line (in ascent follow a wee path heading diagonally left into a shallow gully and then out onto a steep grassy rib: there's just a move or two you need your hands for, and no major exposure. If you don't fancy it, there is the option to traverse across to the right from the col to join the NW ridge.
