What a belter of a day
Never seen so much sun while out walking. Needless to say im back with one burnt coupon
It must be good for those that ticked these hills off way back to see others following in their footsteps. The day started off from the carpark at Ardvorlich House. I left at 1010 with fellow walker Alistair and was at the summit of Ben Vorlich before i knew it. Two hours fifteen to be exact. On the way up we met a few other walkers and close to the summit we were caught by another walker, Derek, who accompanied us to the long, bitter, energy sapping but enjoyable end (sorry Derek
)
- Views from the car park
- Views to Loch Earn
We had a good old debate about whether to head on, after much deliberation we dcided to carry on due to the excellent walking walking conditions ( kinda big mistake
) We stopped for lunch at the corrie at the foot of Stuc. We were passed by a walker telling us to avoid a certain route as it was wet and the snow was soft
We left the navigation to Alistair as he has ticked of all the Munros and seemed to know what he was talking about
We went probably a third up what i now realise is probably the steepest side before our 'guide'
made the decision to turn back and ascend from another point. I can only describe it as the second hill from the end in the picture below and then along the side of the snow line (sorry for my illieracy with technical terms
)
- Second hill from the right
From the summit the views were breathtaking. Never seen so many hills around me. It was satisfying to be able identify the ones that i now have under my beltin the distance.
- On the way back
We descended the way we had come up. Our route from then was attempting to follow a very boggy path round the side of Ben Vorlich
I guess i have been lucky as this is the first time, and if i can help it the last i will walk on a bog!
We really took our time with this one, none of us were in a rush to get home though to be honest my legs were starting to get to that trembly stage(if that makes sense
). All in all another cracking walk. Not really sure where my next adventure will take me though a return to An Stuc is up there on the tick list
