Another free day and a trip down to the Minnigaff Hills in Galloway.
I drove up the forest road and parked at the west end of the Black Loch (NX494727).
- The Black Loch
From there the forest road winds uphill in a northerly direction. The lumberjacks /lumberjills had been busy and left plenty of wood.
- walking through here smelled lovely
At a break in the forest ((NX490471) left the road and headed NW up broken pathless ground.
- the slopes of Millfore
Despite the rough ground and a few false summits the top appeared fairly quickly.
- Trig point and cairn
Continued SW to the lower top which also has a substantial cairn and great views over the surrounding hills.
- Lamachan Hill and Curleywee
- Cairnsmore of Fleet
Descended in a SE direction to the east of Drimorn Hill to rejoin a spur of the forest road and back to the Black Loch.
A good walk to a Graham/Donald on a calm day with good visibility.
