A great report Ranger.
It's great having someone to take the photos to record that you have actually done it. Proof to your friends if needed. I'm sure you could get a few free pints recalling the story. I don't think you could make it any more scary than what it was.
Your ascent makes my Dolomites Paternkofel hike a walk in the park.
Maybe one day I might get round to it who knows.

One question how do you beat that!!!! :D

Great report and pics Ranger; I have just been watching a programme on BBC4 called Munro Mountain Man where Nicholas Crane climbs the Inn Pin, just watching it made my palms sweat your report did the same. I've booked JJ for the end of June hope our trip is as successful as yours, can't wait.

no often a Ranger is top of anything these days

Thanks :)

Mate, the football wind ups everytime you reply to me are getting boring - you're clearly a funny guy with all the lol's you put at the end of your posts so finding something else to be funny about would be much appreciated :D

Cheers

well done Ranger.. but with regards to above if you come on calling yourself ranger and wearing a ranger scarf... you should be able to take the banter/ slagging that comes with it!

Interesting all the footy banter...I've always felt that people who have a strong dislike for an opposing team, cry when they are relegated, hate an opposing player etc do so as they don't have much going for them in their life...but it doesn't align with the wonderful experiences, stories and adventures of the many WalkHighlands contributors...go figure

Didn't know you could hire a guide to take you up. That's good to know. Had you any experience of abseiling before this climb?

Superb report, Ranger. Great pics. My heart rate is finally calming down. I was toying with not climbing it with a guide but you have saved me from that stupidity. Can't wait, though. Thanks.

Great!
I soloed the Inn pin in a hailstorm - up and down the easy side - in a failed attempt on the ridge in 1965. I think I probably trailed a rope but as there was no protection, it wasn't really relevant  - still I was young and foolish then   I don't remember it being very worn - which it may be now, but the Thearlach Dubh gap - the hardest bit of unavoidable climbing on the traverse - was polished and greasy then - hate to think what it's like now
