After a couple of relatively straightforward walks, my brother in law set us this challenge. Its a long slow ascent up very agreeable forest tracks, through nice planted woodland. Path was busy, with groups of school kids and more mature walkers our company. Fortunately, managed to feel better about myself by staying ahead of the school kids, but was overtaken on the latter climb section by a guy who i would swear was in his 70s, who just never stopped or got above slow walking pace. A lesson for me. After the long walk to the boggy scramble onto the hill proper, the last ascent looks fairly depressing, and in truth it took a couple of stops en route. Relatively boggy in places, but it was March. Of my three hills to date (we all started somewhere!) this felt most like a proper hill on top. Great views over Carron Valley, and of flights turning to land at Glasgow Airport. Another step up for me in my determination to get in 10 Munros before end of 2012, first hopefully before the end of May.

Well done on starting out :) . Hope you get to your target :)

I did a hill in this area not too long ago, Darrach Hill, and it was a good wee day out and I was surprised by the views and the amount you could see, despite the trees. Looking out over our towns and cities has it's own charms.
If you live in the area, it's defintely worth a walk for a wee stroll.

Good luck :)
