Sgiath Chuil and Meall Glas from Glen Lochay with Ian Bayne and the dug Jake.
A quiet walk today with only two of the team present and of course Jake.
Met at the car park at Kenknock at 08.30 and set off following the track up the pipeline. Car park empty but then we had passed about twenty vehicles/camp sites spread up the glen road from Killin.
From the pipeline overflow bunker followed the Alt Innisdaimh to the waterfall but did not cross by the dam but edged around the gorge to see the waterfall.
- Waterfall above the dam
Then gaining the ridge walked up to the top at Meall a Churain and over to Sgiath Chuil.
- Up the ridge to Meall a Churain
- Beinn Cheataich from the ridge
Stopped for photos, a snack and to plann the route across to Meall Glas. Brisk wind but views clear, small rain/snow shower.
- Beinn Cheathaich from Meall a Chuil, planning the route
- Meall Eoghainn to the east of Sgiath Chuil, with 8 tops over 800m, would make a good circular walk
Walked down to the bealach from the center top, down the steep slope through the boulders/small crags, as we descended noted clag forming/ clouds lowering.
We traversed the south front of Bienn Cheathaich via Coire na Saobhaidhe until a slight ridge running up below 908 top, then straight up through the small crags. Up to this point we had not spotted any other walkers but as we gained the ridge path 'poof' eleven people appeared.
- Meall Glas clag coming
Reached the summit cairn of Meall Glas and had a spot of lunch whilst waiting for the cloud to clear and debated trying for Beinn nam Imirean.
No sign of the clouds clearing so 'home james' along the ridge and over Beinn Cheathaich dropping down the ridge to hit the vehicle track and follow it to Lubchurran cottage and the ford.
Pleasant walk back to the carpark serenaded by the cows at Kenknock farm as they spotted Jake and called in their young calves.
