I did a very similar route last August, and it was the only time my tent has been beaten by the wind! It was harsh!

A fantastic finish to your week in the hills RH, some wonderful photos - the panoramic shots are beauties. Glad to hear the age old practice of giving a lift to us poor hill stragglers is still alive and well. I think it would have been a bloody hard session for a 'do it in one', and you would have missed out on a night under the stars/clouds

Not surprisingly i'm pleased you mentioned the famine wall ,along with the destitution road's these show the true suffering of the Gaidheal in "An Giorta Mor" in the 1840's .

Thanks. I knew a bit about the wall before I went but have looked into it further since returning. Despite having been over in Gairloch and Poolewe many times in the past, I didn't also know that the section of the A832 from Dundonell to Braemore is known as the Destitution Road for similar reasons. I gather there are other road sections similarly named serving as past reminders.

...... and this from the man who, when I bumped into him some 18 months ago at the top of Ben Oss and informed him that I'd just camped the previous night on top of Fiarach and had had to scrape the ice off the inside of the tent in the morning, looked at me like I was deranged!

Rockhopper, you've contributed some fine reports to this site over the last few years, but I think this is undoubtedly your finest hour! Superb stuff!

I'd like to echo Graeme D's very apt comments in one his WRs about the reasons for doing reports which mean you can then go back to them months/years later and relive the events - even better when people are so supportive in their comments. I wonder how could I plot your route into My View Ranger App

Hi SA. I'm afraid I don't use view ranger so don't know how it works - I record my route on a garmin etrex. However, if you look below the route at the start of the report to the left you'll see "12-13apr2012t.gpx Open map in GPS Planner". If you click "12-13apr2012t.gpx", it'll download the gpx file to your PC (yes, I still use a desktop). If you click "Open map in GPS Planner", it'll open the track on the WH gps planner. Don't think you can do anything with the latter but the former gives you a gpx file which you may able to upload to view ranger ? Just watch though, I initially followed the track on the north of the allt for about 0.5km from NH204853 before turning back which you wouldn't want to repeat. You'll also see that I had a wee bit of farffing about on the bealach below Beinn Dearg for photos and a camping spot. You may also be able to find a more direct route down from Cona' Mheall as (hopefully) you won't have the snow and ice which I was trying to avoid. Hope you have a great time - cheers

What an amazing trip,i've been looking into how to do these Munros in one go ,so thanks for your walk report.
I will follow your route and take 2 nights camping to do it as I'm not a fast walker
