Thanks, I've now linked a few of the photographs including the Loch Etchachan ones from Flikr, so that larger ones can be viewed.

Yes, I'm glad that some snow eventually arrived this winter/spring though... finally gave me a chance to use my winter boots, if not my crampons!

I did a similar walk just last week on one of the few good days of my annual fortnight's Munro-bagging trip (Living in Cornwall is extremely frustrating!) and will post it later when I have the time.
I missed out on Loch Etchachan by going straight up the snow-plastered hillside to the summit tors. I returned down the same slopes, then climbed onto Beinn a Chaorainn before crossing the peat-hag ridden Moine Bhealaidh to Beinn Bhreac and back to the lodge to retrieve the bike.
Your pics of Loch Etchachan now make we wish I had taken that route! I noted that there are two Lochan Uaines either side of Derry Cairngorm, but no Sgurr an Lochan Uaine on my map, just a corrie of that name. The crag in your photo is a spur of Derry Cairngorm - sorry to be so critical of an excellent report; being Cornish, I have just two brain-cells and have had to send one out to find the other, which is perhaps why I am feeling so grumpy!

Hi Philwalker, look forward to seeing your report of the walk soon. Wow, you have to travel a long distance to go munro-bagging! Perhaps you should pop up again to see Loch Etchachan, it is definitely worth a visit

I do tend to guess the names of the hills and other features in my photographs, but I just double-checked my map and there is definitely a Sgurr an Lochan Uaine, just to the north east of the summit of Derry Cairngorm. What a lot of little green lochs there are in the Cairngorms though. :D
