Walkhighlands

Left Achnashellach station about 1pm on saturday, it was oppressively hot, shuffled to Craig then along track to Pollan Buidhe. Stupidley didn't bother with stalkers path just straight up Sgurr nan Ceanaichean then over to Moruisg, ran dry so down by Glenuaig lodge & camped by start river Meig - having just crossed the watershed. Too tired to eat, slept through sunset and sunrise, noodles for breakfast seemed even hotter today as I drank and drank.
Headed up An Crom allt to Drochaid Mhulich (having flashbacks to summer of 76 & Larig Ghru roasting in traners, jeans, t-shirt -but at least had youthful energy). Dumped pack headed at funeral pace up to Carn nam Fiaclan & Maoile Lunndaidh- views to die for all- Torridon, Fannichs, and the Coire Lair hills which I'd been on in snow a few weeks ago. Back down to stream drank and drank, stripped off, sat in it, then slept for an hour or two. Must have been 3 or 4pm by time I picked a rib straight up to Bidean Eoin Deirg, now into a stride to Sgurr a Chaorachain and Sgurr Choinnich. Had to go low for water at Bealach Bhearnais, met some Aberdonian hillwalkers camping who were to keep me good company on tomorrow's hills. For the sake of the sunset camped on Beinn Tharsuinn - content with the world, Skye, Rum everything was glorious.
Lazed in morning, got going as Aberdonian walkers passed, there was a sea of mist over the sea, a delightful sight. Wound our way up the craggy face of Bidein a Choire Sheasgaich then over to Lurg Mhor. My companions headed back as I went over short airy ridge down and up to Meall Mor. Dazed with heat, tiredness & overdosed on views a golden eagle flew off a crag and floated up on thermals across moors & lochs to south, made me bit gladder to be alive (got my camera out but just black dot in photograph). Turned off Meall Mor down to loch Monar, paid homage to Iain R Thomson the isolation shepard. A normally dreadful bogplod was dry and springy alongside loch, back to now misty bealach & down to camp, up early for walk out. For first time this year armies of midge were out at Achnashellac station even battle hardened locals were complaining. Back in Glasgow for 1 15pm tues.
