After enjoying Binsey in the morning, we took in Ling Fell in the afternoon. We parked at the old school (now a bunk house) at Wythop Mill (295177) and walked east along the lane towards Burthwaite (Wainwright describes it as the top road to Wythop Hall), where we turned on to the fell. The path ascends at an easy gradient, then turns left up to the summit, which gives excellent views of Skiddaw, the Hopegill Head/Grisedale Pike horseshoe, and the coastal plain... and Scotland.
