Ullapool weekend day 1 in the sun

A rainbow seemed to follow alongside for the last 5mins to the car park but as we pulled up the sun was shining with just the hilltops still in cloud. Not long started walking in when a walker came past saying it was too windy up there; he'd gone about half way before turning back. However the clouds cleared by the time we reached the summits although the wind was pretty fierce nearing the top of Conival - had to adopt the crouch-walk a few times!

Lunch break then crossed the ridge to Ben More Assynt. There were 2 tops with cairns, very windy on the left one (summit) and we took the brief detour to the second one just to cover all bases  Route back was the same in reverse so Conival also became the third summit of the day

You certainly got a better day for these two compared to your Ben Hope & Ben Klibreck trip ! Spent many summer holidays up here in the 70's but haven't been up the hills yet. You've got some great photos of the views - hope to get up here some time... - cheers :D

Two mountains of character, but they give your boots a bit hard time  The pic of the ridge to BMA shows clearly how boots may suffer on sharp Quartzite.
Walked them twice,so far, but in different directions, once through between Breabeg and Conival and over the South Top first- and the next in the opposite way.
Cheers.

I did these two in 2009 and I'd also done Conival a year earlier. Found Conival a real trek and a pal I was with with turned back before the hanging valley. Glad to reach the top of Conival, but enjoyed the ridge walk over to BMA.........Nice photo's that bring it all back. :D
