Jubilee weekend, raining down south and on mainland but pretty good weather on Arran. Look for wee signpost at south end of village, near southbound bus stop. Very steep wee hill on Tarmac to get onto the path and keep an eye out for signs, there are a couple of places where, if you veer left, you'll miss the right path. Had a dog with us and did not see a sheep all day so dog friendly ! The terrain is good for all, we had our nine and five year old yomping up the hill in about two hours and the only issue were midges and clegs after the section where you turn left to cross the burn and head for a a saddle/ ridge that takes you up to where the main path from Brodick kicks in. Saw deer at that saddle but when the Brodick path joins up it's a busy wee spot. If you like rock hopping you can do plenty of that on the last section to the top and there are also two grat scrambling opportunities as you head down the saddle on the north side to get back into the path that eventually joins the ascent path where it crosses the burn. More deer down there, herd of a couple of dozen, make the walk seem like really being out in the wilds. The descending path from the saddle is badly worn out, looks like they've been doing some work on that but lots of erosion. Also, if you're not agile, going down the saddle will be quite tricky.
