NW Scotland having best weather in UK plus have not been to Torridon before, much anticipation. Nine year old boy and muttley in tow we set off up the front of this hill at just before 4pm. Have beinn eighe and slioch in mind for next two days and did not have enough time to try ridge today.
Anyway, what a cracking walk/scramble up. Plenty of rock hopping and scree options which me and boy enjoyed but, unless you have a really stupid mutt, consider taking your dog carefully. Stopping twice on way up to big up a 30kg dog who is not happy was not fun on the way up although you have never seen such a happy dog when he got down and was fed !
The walk is mainly steep and the descent is doubtless bad for anyone less than nimble but the big advantage is that you can be up in sub two hours including snack stops and the views are as marvellous as everyone else reports. Today the mist came in over the top just free we started our descent. The Peter Barton guide was bang on I must say.
Roll on the next two days, photos to follow when I get back. Many thanks to torridon inn for wifi !
