The Cairnwell Munros

Far better views than we were expecting. Walk Highlands was a little harsh (especially if you turn your back and pretend the ski paraphernalia is not there!) Carn Aosda took us less than 40 minutes to climb but was relentlessly steep. The 2nd Munro, Carn a'Gheoidh, was fantastic, reminding us of Meall Buidhe in Glen Lyon.. The views were far reaching and spectacular, particularly as the weather was clear and warm. the final Munro, The Cairnwell, doesn't have the prettiest summit, but does offer good views to the south. e were stunned to see a woman in bright red patent shoes strolling down the path, only to turn the corner and see the chairlift hoiking lazy people up the mountainside. We descended by the red ski route, laughing at the lazies on the lift. Sarah and David thought they saw a dead person on the lift - only for the kids to tell us that it was a dummy....doh!

I agree that the Cairnwell Hills are a pleasant walk. I'd heard all the negative stories and can agree but as you say, it is easy to ignore and focus on the wonderful views, tranquility and achievement of bagging 3 munros! :)
