We started at the youth hostel at the foot of Ben Nevis, this was the third time me and my family had climbed this hill and every time it's been a clear day at the summit, and today was no exception with a sunny warm day with an amazing inversion:D
We reached the lochan in 1 hour. then we walked up the pony track. at this point some cloud came down but when we reached the top after 2.5 hours. it was an inversion and we spent a good half hour on the top before heading off the top towards the arête to Carn Mor Dearg.
It is a tricky descent with very large boulders there is no path but posts mark the way. I fell but luckily was unhurt. the arête is actually not too hard but at points it is thin and dangerous. When you reach the summit of carn mor dearg you have spectacular views of the north face of Ben Nevis and anoch beag .

Then it's a hard descent to the cic hut.... It was the hardest part. Then it was back to the lochan, down to the youth hostel and then to our self catering lodge.
It was probably the most beautiful walk we have done to date.

P.s I'd recommend you not to do carn mor dearg from torlundy. we tried it but there is no path up the side of CMD. So stick to my route if you don't want a deathly steep climb

Sounds like you had a great walk Neil with fabulous views, any photos to share?

I recently did CMD front the North Face car park at Torlundy and there is a path to the top although finding the start of it can be tricky. Unfortunately I had no views when I got there so will need to revisit to for the arete and those views of the Ben.

57 munros aged 12! Refreshing considering the number of kids that want to stay in and play xbox or playstation these days instead of being out and about and active.

Well done indeed

Good effort NB.. I fell on the way down from Nevis to the arete as well.. I don't bounce like I did when I was 12 though, and did myself a mischief
