Took advantage of having two cars with D & J up for the day. Dropped the girls at Ballachulish and we took the return car to the forestry commission car park. After an initial scramble through the fields above the village we soon intercepted the diagonal path that wound its way anticlockwise around the shoulder of Beinn Bhan. Views down into Loch Leven were very impressive. Underfoot conditions improved as we ascended the scree and rocky path up to Sgorr Ban with 360 deg views down Glencoe, across to Bidean and north to the Ben.
This was the best view of the ridge leading up to Sgorr Dhearg but first there was a slight loss of height to the col at 900m before the 124m ascent to the summit.
Without checking the map we set off down to the bealach thinking it was a similar drop in height, however we soon realised that the drop was 260m!, meaning a stiff climb back up to Sgorr Dhonuill. Although hard it was well worth it with some very exposed scrambling. An excellent day out!
The photographs tell the story better than I can.Image

You had a much better day than we did on the WH meetup a couple years ago for these two. It's a cracking route :) .
